'Ambassador of the Arts' is a fitting title for both Mike and Myra Powers of Ft. Collins, Colorado.  They have given their time, energy and expertise to improving the culture and arts in their city.  It is fitting that Mike will be presented as Honorary Chair by Ft. Collins Museum of the Arts (MOA) April of 2015 at their annual Gala.

Mike is also a gifted photographer with a wonderful eye for color harmony, value, contrast and composition.  A special thank you to Mike and Myra for allowing me to use his original photo as my reference for this painting.

This is my second painting from a photo taken by talented photographer Mike Powers of Ft. Collins, Colorado.  Thanks again Mike.

Mike's composition and eye for color harmony attracted me to this subject.  I've titled it Deep In Thought as that seems to be this fisherman's body language in this peaceful setting.

Mike and Myra travel the world and Fine Art is always part of their journey.  This subject was in Thailand.

The lighting and shadows of this scene have captured my attention.  The simple scene conjures up multiple story lines.  It's always interesting to hear what different viewers see.

I was in Paris one month before the horrible murders by terrorists.  A friend recommended that I visit the peaceful gardens at the Musee' du Luxembourg.  I took an iPhone photo late in the afternoon and used it as my reference for this painting.  Little did I know what would come later.

Growing up in Colorado around horses, cowboys and Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeos, I am attracted to the pure action of the event.  This representational piece is meant to give that feel.

Luxemborg Garden in Paris is as peaceful as it gets.  The colors and shadows in late afternoon were what drew me in.

Minstrels of Prague 16"x20" oil on linen panel Watching these colorful musicians in the town square of Prague was a highlight of my Blue Danube experience.  I have added color and background touches in an attempt to give the painting a happy and festive feel....hopefully it reads that way.

I painted the old barn and buildings and knew farm animals needed to show up as well.  The goats had the 'right attitude' so they made the cut.

My daughter, Heidi, was part of a relay team of runners in Colorado summer of 2016.  Ft Collins to Steamboat Springs.  Her leg was completed and it was just after dawn when she was on a dirt road waiting for her ride....not another soul in site.  Then, right in front of her came these wild horses.  She had her cell phone/camera and managed to capture the image.  The photo was used as reference for this painting.
